The upcoming season will include a large-scale battle scene.
The streaming service HBO Max has released the first teaser trailer for the third season of the series “House of the Dragon,” whose slogan sounds quite ominous: “From fire comes darkness.” The upcoming season will be the penultimate one, as HBO has confirmed that the series will consist of four seasons.
The video shows members of the divided House Targaryen engaging in battle, along with numerous fiery confrontations featuring dragons. The upcoming season will include a large-scale battle scene that was initially planned for the second season but was ultimately moved to the third after the number of episodes in the second season was reduced to eight.
In the trailer, Aemond Targaryen sits on the Iron Throne after his brother Aegon was mutilated in the previous season, while his mother, Queen Alicent Hightower, secretly left King’s Landing to surrender the city to Rhaenyra’s forces. It is also revealed that Rhaenyra has discovered new dragons for her army, which would be a disaster for Alicent and her family. Other large battles are shown, including what appears to be a battle in the God’s Eye, where Rhaenyra’s son, Jace, fights on his dragon against the fleet of House Velaryon.
In the third season, Matt Smith, Emma D'Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Fia Saban, Jefferson Hall, Matthew Needham, Tom Bennett, Kieran Bew, Kurt Egyiawan, Freddie Fox, Clinton Liberty, Gail Rankin, and Abubakar Salim will return to their roles. They will be joined by newcomers: James Norton as Ormund Hightower, Tommy Flanagan as Lord Rodrik Dustin, Dan Fogler as Ser Torrhen Manderly, Tom Cullen as Ser Luthor Largent, Joplin Sibtain as Ser Harwin Strong, and Barry Sloan as Ser Adrian Redwyne.
Fans will be able to judge the new season of the series in June.
The trailer for the third season of “House of the Dragon” was released ahead of the final episode of the first season of the new prequel to “Game of Thrones,” “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” which has received numerous praise from fans and critics.
The fantasy drama series “House of the Dragon,” based on George R. R. Martin’s novel “Fire & Blood,” which tells the history of House Targaryen, takes place approximately 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones.”
