A special BBC show was held at London's Albert Hall to celebrate the 100th birthday of legendary naturalist and broadcaster David Attenborough. Congratulations were sent to the centenarian by King Charles, Prince William, as well as global stars from film and music.

During the evening, Sir David Attenborough sat next to Prince William. The heir to the British throne highly praised Attenborough's contributions.

This was reported by bb.lv, referencing NOS.

"It is a rare privilege to celebrate a century of life," William said. "But it is an even greater rarity when a person has managed to change how we view our one home — planet Earth."

During the celebratory show, video messages were shown from actors, including Judi Dench, Kate Winslet, and Leonardo DiCaprio. Musicians Nile Rodgers and Hans Zimmer also recorded warm words for Attenborough.

However, the most notable greeting came in a video from King Charles. In the four-minute clip, the British monarch writes a congratulatory card to Attenborough, which is delivered to him by various animals. One of the main "characters" in the video was Queen Camilla's dog named Molly.

Charles mentioned in the video that he has known Attenborough for over sixty years.

"It seems we first met in 1958, almost a decade before the era of color television. Since then, our paths have crossed many times," the king noted.

He thanked Attenborough for his work and congratulated him on his birthday on behalf of the British people.

After the video was shown at the Albert Hall, Attenborough raised the king's letter, after which the audience greeted him with prolonged standing ovations.

In our opinion, Attenborough's centenary was not just a celebration for the British but a recognition of the immense contribution the documentarian has made to nature conservation and the popularization of science. His films continue to inspire millions of people around the world to treat the planet with greater care.
