Sting explained why he does not intend to leave his children a multimillion-dollar inheritance

The 74-year-old musician reiterated that his children should not expect a huge fortune from their parents. According to Sting, he wants his sons and daughters to build their own lives and careers.

"I told them, 'Guys, you have to work. I'm spending our money. I'm paying for your education. You have everything. Go work.' There is no cruelty in this. I believe that this is kindness and faith that they will achieve everything on their own. My children are resilient," he replied.

The musician calls freeing them from the need to work a form of cruelty, in which he never wants to be guilty. He expresses hope that his children will find their own way in life.

From his first marriage to actress Frances Tomelty (1976–1984), Sting has two children — 49-year-old son Joe and 44-year-old daughter Fuchsia. In his second marriage to Trudie Styler, which took place in 1992, four more children were born: daughters Mickey (42 years old) and Eliot (35 years old), as well as sons Jake (40 years old) and Giacomo (30 years old).

Sting is convinced that true support for children lies not in complete financial provision but in fostering independence and confidence in their own abilities.
