Actress Catherine O'Hara has died at the age of 72, her manager told Variety.
She passed away on January 30 at her home in Los Angeles "after a brief illness."
O'Hara played Kate McCallister, Kevin's mother, in the films "Home Alone" (1990) and "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York" (1992).
She is also known for her role as Moira Rose — a former actress and socialite from the Canadian series "Schitt's Creek." For this work, O'Hara received an Emmy Award.
O'Hara was married to production designer Bo Welch. The couple had two sons — Matthew (born 1994) and Luke (born 1997).
O'Hara had a rare genetic condition in which her internal organs were mirrored. The actress's heart was located on the right side instead of the left, which is considered one of the most complex variations of this condition. However, this condition did not affect her health and well-being in any way.
