Bella Hadid Criticizes Dolce & Gabbana

The model stated that she does not understand why the brand is still supported despite years of accusations of racism, sexism, and intolerance.

Reason for the Scandal

29-year-old Bella Hadid sharply criticized Dolce & Gabbana after the men's collection show for the autumn/winter season at Milan Fashion Week. Online users noticed the extremely homogeneous casting of models — one user described it as "fifty shades of white."

The discussion unfolded under a video by designer Elias Medini (Lyas), who was the first to publicly criticize the choice of models for the show titled "Portrait of a Man." According to him, the composition of the participants contradicted the declared idea of individuality and uniqueness of each man.

Bella Hadid's Reaction

Hadid joined the discussion in the comments and did not hold back her words:

"I am shocked that people still support this company, it’s a disgrace. Models, stylists, casting — it’s all a damn unfair business."

This comment garnered over 60,000 likes. In a subsequent message, the model added that the brand should have been "canceled" a long time ago, reminding everyone of the "years of racism, sexism, xenophobia, and intolerance."

Support from the Industry

Hadid's opinion was echoed by other members of the fashion community. Stylist and editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson noted that such situations are a result of influential figures continuing to justify the brand for financial gain. According to her, microaggressions eventually turn into a systemic problem and a norm of behavior.

Bella Hadid's statement once again highlighted the long-standing reputational scandals surrounding Dolce & Gabbana and sparked a new wave of discussions about real diversity and inclusivity in high fashion.
