The Hammer H1 SUV, which belonged to rapper Tupac Shakur, will go up for auction in January in the U.S. state of Arizona. The auction is organized by Bonhams. Its representatives claim that the musician purchased the vehicle just a few weeks before his death in 1996.

The current mileage of the Hammer H1 is only 16,000 km. At the time of Tupac's death, the car had traveled 8,000 km. For seven years after the incident, the vehicle was in storage, after which it was raffled off. In 2007, it was purchased by the owners of Havenotz Entertainment, and the current owner has had the SUV since 2010. The car comes with copies of Tupac's estate documents that include this vehicle, as well as photographs of the rapper in the "Hammer."

During his brief ownership of the vehicle, Tupac managed to modify it. The SUV was equipped with additional lighting, a winch, a loudspeaker with sirens, and a Clarion sound system. The interior is finished in beige leather and walnut wood. Under the hood is a 6.5-liter turbo-diesel V8 engine with 205 hp, paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. The body is made of aircraft-grade aluminum alloy. The vehicle features independent suspension, power steering, and disc brakes with ABS.

Tupac Amaru Shakur (also known as 2Pac and Makaveli, born Lesane Parish Crooks on June 16, 1971, in Harlem, New York — died September 13, 1996, in Las Vegas, Nevada) was an American rapper, producer, and actor. He is considered one of the greatest hip-hop artists in history. His double studio album All Eyez on Me, as well as his greatest hits compilation, are among the best-selling albums in the U.S. Rolling Stone magazine ranked Shakur 86th on its list of the 100 greatest artists of all time. Shakur had a colossal influence on many hip-hop artists, including Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Nas, Wiz Khalifa, Lil Wayne, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, The Game, and Nipsey Hussle.

The overwhelming majority of Shakur's songs tell stories of the harsh life in the ghetto, violence, poverty, racism, and issues of modern society. Many of Shakur's relatives were members of the African American leftist organization the Black Panthers. In the last years of his life, Shakur was directly involved in the East Coast-West Coast rivalry, which led to feuds with other hip-hop artists and music producers, including East Coast leader The Notorious B.I.G. and Bad Boy Records.

In the fall of 1996, Shakur sustained multiple gunshot wounds. In the hospital, after several attempts to get out of bed, Shakur, under the influence of strong painkillers, was placed on life support and ultimately induced into a coma with barbiturates. On the afternoon of September 13, 1996, despite doctors' attempts to stop the internal bleeding, Tupac Shakur died in the intensive care unit. Tupac's mother, Afeni Shakur, made the decision to end the futile efforts of doctors to bring her son back to life. The official cause of death was respiratory failure and cardiac arrest due to multiple gunshot wounds.
