Blogger Nikita Efremov Conditionally Sentenced for Supporting a Banned Organization

26-year-old blogger and entrepreneur Nikita Efremov*, who founded a chain of clothing and footwear stores, was sentenced to three years of conditional imprisonment with the same probation period. The Moscow region court found him guilty of financing an organization whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in Russia.

The investigation established that from August 2021 to February 2022, Efremov set up automatic deductions and transferred money several times to a structure included in the register of extremist organizations. The transfers were made from Moscow and the Moscow region, and these operations became the basis for criminal prosecution. Last summer, the blogger was detained at Sheremetyevo Airport, after which the court temporarily restricted a number of his actions. He faced up to eight years in prison for the crime.

At the same time, the entrepreneur found himself involved in civil disputes. The Arbitration Court had previously ordered him to pay more than 11 million rubles to a company from the Moscow region, the details of the dispute are not disclosed.

  • Nikita Efremov has been included by Rosfinmonitoring in the list of terrorists and extremists.
