A hungry person will choose heart-unhealthy foods in the store.
Cardiologist Jose Abelyan urged against shopping for groceries on an empty stomach, as it is dangerous for the heart. His words were reported by the publication Deia.
Abelyan stated that nutrition is the foundation of heart health. If a person goes to the store on an empty stomach, they are highly likely to choose ultra-processed foods, as well as foods high in trans fats, sugar, and salt, which are harmful to this organ, the doctor warned.
To prevent this, according to the specialist, it is necessary to plan meals a week in advance. The focus should be on fruits, vegetables, legumes, fish, and olive oil. In conclusion, Abelyan emphasized that a balanced Mediterranean diet protects blood vessels and lowers cholesterol levels.
