Jelgava Faces a Shortage of Latvian Language Teachers – Where Have They Gone? 0 28

In preparation for the 2026/2027 school year, educational institutions in Jelgava are looking for both teachers and support staff. There are vacancies in both general education schools and preschool institutions.

In general education institutions, there is the greatest need for teachers of the Latvian language and literature, mathematics, as well as design and technology. Several schools also have vacancies for music, sports and health, informatics, English, biology, chemistry, German, history and social studies, theater arts teachers, individual instrument instructors, speech therapists, teaching assistants, and primary school teachers.

Teachers for the new school year are being invited by Jelgava Technical Secondary School, Spidola State Gymnasium, Jelgava 5th Secondary School, Jelgava Central Primary School, Paul Bendrups Primary School, Jelgava 4th Secondary School, and Jelgava Parlielupa Primary School.

There are also vacancies in preschool institutions in Jelgava. The most in-demand positions are for preschool education teachers, as well as support specialists – speech therapists and educational psychologists.

Preschool education teachers are needed in the kindergartens "Kamolītis", "Ķipari", "Pasaciņa", "Rotaļa", "Vārpiņa", and "Zīļuks". Speech therapists are invited to join the teams of preschool institutions "Alnītis" and "Zemenīte", while educational psychologists are needed in "Kāpēcīši", "Ķipari", and "Pasaciņa".

In some preschool institutions, there are also vacancies for music teachers, sports educators, FasTracKids instructors, teaching assistants, as well as administrative and technical staff.

In some educational institutions, full-time positions are offered, as well as the opportunity to supplement the workload with class leadership, individual or group lessons.
