Amazon MGM Studios is developing an animated series for adults based on the popular comic series 'She is a Monster'. The project is being handled by Steven Maeda, co-writer and former showrunner of the live-action adaptation of One Piece and executive producer of the film 'Lie to Me'. This was reported by Variety.
'She is a Monster' takes place in a fantasy world inspired by Asian culture. The story centers around a young woman who harbors a true monster within her. In an attempt to uncover the mysteries of her past and seek revenge for her mother's murder, she embarks on a journey alongside unusual companions, including a talking cat and a hybrid of a fox and a human.
The original comic, written by Marjorie Liu and illustrated by Sana Takeda, has received numerous awards, including four Hugo Awards for achievements in science fiction, seven Eisner Awards, and the title of 'Book of the Year' at the Harvey Awards in 2018.
