From March 12 to May 17, 2026, the Museum of Decorative Applied Arts and Design will host the exhibition 'Art Deco – To This Day. Design and Crafts in France', vividly demonstrating that in our global and standardized world, the quality of handmade work and the creative interaction between artisans and designers still hold an important place.

The exhibition, created in collaboration with Mobilier national (French National Furniture Fund), the French Institute in Latvia, and the Embassy of France in Latvia, as well as with the support of the State Cultural Capital Foundation, Rietumu Banka, and the Future Support Fund, will run until May 17 of this year and will showcase historically significant examples of French design and craftsmanship from the Art Deco era to the present day.

Tapestries and furniture from the national collection of Mobilier demonstrate the interaction of craftsmanship and design, highlighting the creativity of outstanding French designers, artists, and architects. The exhibition is complemented by a unique collection of Art Deco glass vases by Daum from the private collection of the Estherkin family. These are exceptional pieces not available in museum exhibitions and collections in Latvia.
