The new mystical thriller by M. Night Shyamalan Remain (released in Russia as 'Останься') has received a new release date. The film will be released on February 5, 2027. The movie is based on the eponymous novel written by Shyamalan in collaboration with popular sentimental prose author Nicholas Sparks.
From Book to Big Screen
The novel Remain, published in October 2025, quickly became a bestseller. The success of the book prompted Warner Bros. to actively develop a film adaptation. Jake Gyllenhaal plays the lead role of architect Tate Donovan, with Phoebe Dynevor, known to audiences from the series 'Bridgertons', as his partner.
Plot: Love Between Worlds
The film is set against the foggy landscapes of Cape Cod. Gyllenhaal's character experiences a heavy personal tragedy and tries to cope with the crisis by immersing himself in work. After moving into an old mansion, he meets a mysterious girl named Wren. It gradually becomes clear that she is a ghost tied to the house by tragic events from the past. His attempt to help her find peace becomes Tate's path to rethinking his own life.
Why the Premiere Was Rescheduled
According to insiders, test screenings of Remain received exceptionally high ratings—higher than the cult classic 'The Sixth Sense'. The studio decided to move the release from fall 2026 to February 2027, in order to release the romantic story just before Valentine's Day and enhance the emotional impact of the box office.
Cast and Visual Style
The film also features Ashley Walters, Julie Haggerty, and J. O. Sanders. The visual aspect is handled by cinematographer Adolfo Veloso, previously acclaimed for his work on the western 'Dream Train'.
