Bread and Honey Day to be Held on Saturday at the Agenskalns Market

On Sunday, February 1, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the Agenskalns Market invites you to Bread and Honey Day, where visitors can purchase various types of bread and honey, participate in events organized by the Latvian Beekeepers' Society, and try traditional honey pie. Admission to the event is free.

On the first floor of the pavilion, Latvian bakers and confectioners will present their products, offering round, soft rolls baked in a wood-fired oven and handmade. Beekeepers, in turn, will bring delicious and healthy honey.

Ugly Cake will delight visitors with sourdough bread and gluten-free bread, slandraushi, and macarons. Courland CEIŅI, along with traditional Alsunga slandraushi, sweet and sour rye bread, will also offer garlic toasts made from their own bread. Among the participants will be the bakeries Tērvetes maize, DONA, Dankumu Dārzi, and Mazdandaru saldsāvmaize, which will present the award-winning bread Novada Garša, real bread soup, raushi, and potato chips.

Visitors can expect a wide variety of baked goods — from quinoa gluten-free bread to sourdough, rye, and white bread — from regular sellers Better Bread, Kūkotava, Bujums, and others.

Beekeeper Dače Purvinska (Mežapuķu Medus) will offer whipped honey with the addition of black currants, raspberries, sea buckthorn, and other berries, while Eco Honey Latvia will bring honey, pollen, and natural beeswax candles from Latgale. The Latvian Beekeepers' Society will visit the RE CEP TE kitchen (2nd floor of the market), where guests can enjoy interesting activities, honey tastings, bee bread, and pollen, as well as the opportunity to communicate with beekeeping experts.

At 1:00 PM on the second floor of the market, regular sellers — Drustu saldumi, Vaniļas debesis, Kūkotava, Z/S Vārpas, Bricēni, Lāči, and Martiņa Beķereja — will invite everyone to try homemade honey cakes.

From 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, at the Valmiermuiža embassy stand, a tasting of honey beer and honey cakes from Kūkotava will take place in collaboration with beer sommelier Uldis Licis.
