Spiders are unable to determine whether there are flies in the house or not. Moreover, even in empty spaces, wood-boring beetles and other insects may inhabit, which can become their prey. However, most importantly, weaving catching webs is an instinctive action for many spiders, initiated by the nervous system and not requiring external stimuli.
