Students of Buryatia Develop a System for Detecting Predators in Settlements

In Buryatia, students are working on creating a startup that will allow for prompt notification of residents about the appearance of predators in villages.

Students of the East Siberian State University of Technology and Management are developing a system called WildAnimalWatch.

This system will provide faster information to citizens about potential threats and increase safety levels in settlements. The project has already been presented at the annual startup conference. The program is based on the use of artificial intelligence. Wild animals will be detected using video footage. The new system will be useful for both ordinary residents of villages and farmers. When an animal is detected, its coordinates are recorded by the camera, after which citizens receive notifications. For the system to work effectively, a large number of photographs of dangerous animals need to be uploaded.

Currently, the team is working on detailing the project. A prototype of the interface has already been created. In the future, it is planned to expand the system's functionality by adding the ability to recognize other threats, such as landslides, fires, and floods.
