Has a breed of cows been developed that produces milk with insulin?

There is an opinion that a breed of cows has been developed that produces milk with human insulin...

Yes, such a statement was made by scientists from the University of Illinois in the USA and the University of São Paulo in Brazil.

According to a scientific article published in The Biotechnology Journal, researchers integrated a segment of human DNA responsible for coding proinsulin into the cells of a cow embryo. As a result, a transgenic calf was produced. When the animal reached maturity, lactation was initiated using hormones. The concentration of proinsulin and insulin in the milk of the transgenic cow was several grams per liter. One gram corresponds to 28,818 doses of the finished drug.

Scientists are confident that the milk obtained from transgenic cows will help solve the problem of human insulin shortages in the world.
