Many people mistakenly associate cats' behavior with revenge, believing that puddles on the bed or in shoes are a response to punishment. However, as veterinarian Lyudmila Konikova explained, the true reasons lie elsewhere.
“Revenge is a complex emotion that involves resentment due to a sense of injustice and the understanding that an action can harm another. However, firstly, cats are not capable of constructing such a chain of thought. Secondly, they do not realize that it is difficult for us to clean up after them. This is too complicated for them,” explained the veterinarian.
According to the expert, the real reasons for the animals' unclean behavior are anxiety and stress that they experience in home conditions.
To correct the pet's behavior, Lyudmila Konikova recommends improving its living conditions.
“It is necessary to create more hiding places for the cat, organize vertical spaces for movement, and provide it with more freedom. Do not disturb it when it does not want to be bothered. The cat will come to you when it needs interaction,” believes the veterinarian.
Additionally, food-hunting games can help reduce the animal's stress and anxiety by stimulating its hunting instincts.
