In which country are there the most wild tigers?

Scientific data clearly indicates India as the country with the largest population of wild tigers in the world.

According to the latest national census, there are about 3,682 tigers in India, which accounts for approximately three-quarters of their global population. This impressive result is a consequence of large-scale conservation efforts, including the establishment of national parks, anti-poaching protection, and long-term programs similar to those implemented in Jim Corbett National Park. The tiger population in India is not only stable but also shows signs of growth due to successful breeding and the survival of tiger cubs.

In second place in the global ranking is Russia, where about 750 Amur tigers inhabit the forests of the Far East. This population, restored thanks to strict conservation measures, is considered one of the most stable outside of South Asia.

Following are Indonesia (with fewer than 400 Sumatran tigers left on Sumatra), Nepal (355), Thailand (179–223), Malaysia (fewer than 150), and Bhutan (131).

In countries such as Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, viable tiger populations have virtually disappeared due to poaching and habitat destruction.

The future of the species still depends on international cooperation, the expansion of protected areas, and effective measures against illegal hunting.
