Two dolphins were spotted in the harbor of the Danish capital Copenhagen on Monday – according to biologists, they have appeared in Denmark's inland waters for the first time, reports DR.
Residents of Copenhagen recently published a video on social media showing two dolphins in the city's harbor. They were also jumping on the water's surface.
Danish biologist Karl Kinze, who works at the Natural History Museum of Denmark, called the incident "a sensation on top of a sensation."
"This has never been seen in Denmark's inland waters," DR quotes him.
According to another marine biologist, Michael Hansen, the two dolphins likely made it to the capital because they were "following some fish." "It could have been herring, for example," he says.
Until now, dolphins have only been seen off the coast of Denmark near the city of Helsingør, located on the northeastern island of Zealand.
