It is indeed true. In Brazil, at the prison in the city of Florianópolis, an interesting experiment was conducted. To ensure the safety of the inmates, they use geese instead of dogs. These birds “watch” to prevent escapes.
Geese move freely in specially designated pens located near the prison wall. At night, at the slightest noise, they begin to honk loudly. According to the prison administration, since geese replaced dogs, there have been no recorded escape attempts by inmates.
