Some popular procedures in auto services can turn out to be a waste of money. Experts pointed out a number of jobs whose effect is either short-lived or questionable in terms of safety.
The list includes windshield treatment. During this procedure, the damaged top layer of the surface is removed. However, as experts note, the result lasts only for a short time — after a few months, the problem may return.
Specialists are also skeptical about the restoration of alloy wheels. Despite the promises of workshops to return them to their original shape in a few days, such technology is justified only for steel stamped wheels. In the case of alloy components, this approach does not yield the desired effect.
Another controversial operation concerns suspension components. Restoration of parts is possible if they are made of steel. However, modern foreign cars often use aluminum arms. It is impossible to install a new rubber bushing in them: the old one is burned out, and the replacement is not securely fixed.
The list of dubious procedures also includes the machining of brake discs. Unevenness can only be removed on milling equipment, but this reduces the thickness of the part. This directly affects the safety level of the vehicle.
