Dumplings are considered "heavy" food for the body, and many believe they should be consumed at certain hours. Expert in proper nutrition and safe weight loss Natalia Kruglova confirms this opinion, stating that the optimal time for their consumption is during the day.
According to the nutritionist, dumplings are most often made with red meat, such as beef, lamb, and pork. For the body to digest it, it must be active and ready for exertion.
“Dumplings are perfect for a full lunch. They are not recommended to be eaten in the morning or at night. The meat typically used in this dish takes quite a long time to digest. Eating dumplings in the evening can cause discomfort and interfere with quality sleep, while in the morning, it can lead to heaviness, negatively affecting productivity,” shares Dr. Kruglova.
The doctor also recommends pairing dumplings with vegetables, which will make the dish healthier. She advises using vegetables and herbs in equal proportions with dumplings to reduce the risk of consuming excess calories.
“Herbs can be added both fresh, for example, in a salad, and boiled. A great option would be vegetarian cabbage soup. This will ensure a balanced meal containing all the necessary dietary fibers, proteins, and carbohydrates,” added Natalia Kruglova.
