Bloomberg: London and Berlin are considering the possibility of sending troops to Greenland.
Germany and the United Kingdom are considering sending their troops to Greenland. As reported by Bloomberg, London and Berlin are looking into the possibility of increasing military presence on the island.
It is noted that this way Europe intends to show U.S. President Donald Trump that it is serious about ensuring the security of Greenland and the Arctic as a whole.
Germany plans to propose sending a joint NATO mission aimed at protecting the Arctic, while UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is urging allies to increase military presence in the Far North, the agency clarified.
It is expected that German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul will visit the U.S. next week, where he plans to meet with Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington, as well as with UN Secretary-General António Guterres in New York.
Earlier, the Financial Times (FT) reported that the fact that the North Atlantic Alliance has not yet issued a public statement regarding Trump’s threats to seize Greenland has greatly alarmed European capitals.
