Why is semolina porridge considered harmful?

Recently, it has been actively discussed that semolina porridge is one of the most harmful types of porridge. Is this really the case?

Yes, it is indeed true. Semolina porridge does not provide any benefits to the body. Moreover, it is a strong allergen, as reported by doctor and clinical nutritionist Taisia MELESHKO.

According to our grandmothers' memories, during Soviet times, semolina was the only available option for making porridge for children. Buckwheat, oatmeal, and rice were not as easily accessible in stores, so one had to settle for semolina. There was also an opinion that semolina porridge helps children gain weight quickly.

According to the nutritionist, semolina consists of 85% fast carbohydrates and contains virtually no vitamins, minerals, or fiber.

- It is a real “sugar bomb” for a child. It is equivalent to them eating a chocolate bar or a bun for breakfast, - the expert notes.

Additionally, gluten, which is present in significant amounts in semolina, can cause allergies and lead to celiac disease (gluten intolerance).

Although not all children suffer from this disease, predicting the presence of celiac disease is extremely difficult, so it is better to exclude this controversial porridge from a child's diet.
