Doctor Ekaterina Volkova shared information about the positive effects of lard on the body.
According to the specialist, this product is rich in animal fats that should be present in our daily diet. In addition, lard contains unsaturated omega-3 fats.
The expert also noted that there is no need to fear an increase in cholesterol levels with regular consumption of this product. Only 20-30% of cholesterol enters the body through food; the rest is synthesized by the liver.
“Of course, everything should be in moderation. I am not saying that one should eat lard by the kilogram, but 20-30 grams a day, for example, with borscht, is quite acceptable,” explained Volkova.
The doctor added that lard is an excellent stimulant for the gallbladder and a good source of fat-soluble vitamins. This product should be consumed without bread, and it is best to do so in the first half of the day.
However, the medic warned that lard only lasts a few hours, and the smoked version is not optimal as it contains a lot of salt.
