Is Wasp Venom Really Capable of Curing Cancer?

It has been scientifically confirmed that the venom of the Brazilian wasp contains a powerful substance capable of slowing the growth of tumor cells, especially in bladder cancer and leukemia.

Moreover, it has been established that the venom acts selectively: while destroying cancer cells, it does not harm healthy ones, making it possible to create a drug based on it without serious side effects, as is the case with chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

“In laboratory conditions, cancer cells are destroyed not only by exotic substances such as the venom of the Brazilian wasp, but also by various acids, alkalis, and extracts from many plants (for example, onion, horseradish, garlic, etc.),” explains Igor Sokolskiy, a candidate of pharmaceutical sciences. “The problem is that scientists have not yet developed a method that ensures their ‘direct contact’ in the body, and with indirect exposure, these substances lose their anti-cancer activity.”

Additionally, the venom of Brazilian wasps contains a foreign protein that can cause anaphylactic shock. Therefore, developing a drug based on this venom requires many years of research that convincingly confirms its safety.”
