If you suffer from poor sleep and feel 'broken' in the mornings, pay attention to your dinner. The reason for your discomfort may lie in the wrong choice of dishes. Nutritionist consultant Alexey Kabanov shared recommendations on which foods are better to exclude after lunch.
According to the nutritionist, in the second half of the day, it is advisable to prefer light dishes that are quickly digested: fruits, vegetables, seafood, and eggs. Meat products, sausages, and cold cuts are better to exclude — they are digested slowly, and in the evening, extra strain on the body is undesirable. It is also not recommended to eat smoked foods before bed, as they negatively affect the functioning of the stomach, intestines, and liver. Foods high in salt overload the kidneys, so it is better to save them for the morning.
Kefir, cottage cheese, and fermented baked milk are beneficial for the body, but they should only be consumed in the first half of the day. Fermented dairy products are digested slowly, so Alexey Kabanov does not recommend them for dinner.
According to a study by Chinese scientists, people who ate two kiwis before bed significantly improved the quality of their sleep. These fruits contain serotonin, which affects the sleep phase changes and the production of melatonin, necessary for full rest.
Another product rich in melatonin is cherry juice. People who drank a glass of this juice before bed for two weeks fell asleep 30% faster.
Chamomile tea is suitable for relaxation before sleep. This drink contains apigenin, which gently calms the body without causing dependence. Drinking 270 ml of chamomile tea is enough to feel the positive effect.
Don't forget that besides proper nutrition, regular physical activity and adherence to a routine are important for improving sleep.
