The private plane was supposed to pick up former baseball player Yadier Molina, his family, and friends in Texas, Reuters reports.

On Sunday, June 7, a private Gulfstream G200 plane registered in the United States crashed just minutes after taking off from La Romana airport. There were only two pilots on board — the captain and the co-pilot. Both died.

Molina confirmed that the plane was supposed to pick him up with his family.

“My condolences to the pilots and their families,” he said. “This plane was supposed to take me, my family, and friends from Texas so we could return to Puerto Rico. It’s just heartbreaking.”
