In Riga, a balcony collapsed in a residential apartment building on Staceles Street, 11, during the night. The incident occurred in an apartment located on the sixth floor of the building.

After receiving a report of the incident, employees of the State Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the scene. Rescuers surveyed the area around the building and took safety measures by cordoning off the hazardous zone.

According to the Fire and Rescue Service, no one was injured as a result of the collapse.

Although the incident resulted in no casualties or injuries, such cases always attract special attention, as they involve structures located at significant heights and pose potential dangers to residents and passersby.

What is important to know: it has not yet been reported what exactly caused the collapse. The technical condition of the balcony and possible causes of the incident will need to be assessed by specialists.

As reported by Ugis Vidauskis, head of the external communications department of the Riga City Council, specialists from the Department of Urban Development will inspect the site on Saturday.

Based on the results of the inspection, a decision will be made regarding further actions and the need for additional safety measures.

The incident has once again drawn attention to the condition of certain elements of the housing stock, especially in apartment buildings where balconies and facade structures have been exposed to weather conditions for decades.
