Latvian Police Advise Not to Believe Reports of a Drone Attacking the Riga-Daugavpils Train

The State Police of Latvia has discovered deliberately spread false information online about an alleged Ukrainian drone that supposedly crashed tonight into a train traveling from Riga to Daugavpils.

False reports indicate that the attack occurred on the railway section between Nīcgale and Vabole.

“This information is not true!” said the State Police.

Citizens are advised to critically assess the information available on the internet and to trust only official sources of information – the websites of government institutions and their official accounts on social media.

Regarding the incident on the railway, as reported by bb.lv, on Tuesday evening in the Nīcgale municipality of Augšdaugava County, between Līvāni and Daugavpils, a passenger diesel train caught fire.

According to the police, the cause of the incident is technical. No drones were observed in the vicinity.
