How to Properly Fertilize Zucchini During Flowering and Fruiting

For active growth and abundant fruiting of zucchini, it is important to use fertilized soil or compost.

Supporting zucchini is not limited to soil preparation. To accelerate growth and fruit ripening, it is necessary to apply fertilizer during the flowering and fruiting periods.

Fertilizing During Flowering

At this stage, organic additives and compound fertilizers work well.

Fertilization can be done either through watering or foliar application.

Foliar fertilization is carried out by watering the bed around the perimeter and spraying the plants with a solution consisting of 0.5 liters of cow manure and 1 liter of nitroammophos.

This approach provides the plants with the necessary nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus.

Some gardeners use a solution of boric acid with bird droppings to water the perimeter of the bed.

Manure can also be used, but only during the flowering period. It is important to avoid getting fertilizer on the leaves and flowers to prevent burns.

Fertilizing During Fruiting

During this period, it is not recommended to use mineral additives, as they can negatively affect the taste and nutritional value of the fruits.

The application of superphosphate, potassium additives, and urea is allowed.

Those who prefer organic fertilizers should pay attention to wood ash, bird droppings, and compost.

As for boric acid, when combined with iodine, the solution shows excellent results. It is prepared from 0.5 teaspoons of boric acid and 10 drops of iodine diluted in 10 liters of hot water, after which it is mixed and allowed to cool.

This solution is used to spray the plants several times for the prevention of fungal diseases and protection against pests.
