A person died in a fire in Jūrmala 0 9

The State Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) received a call in Jūrmala at 21:32. A fire occurred in a one-story residential building, where the first floor of the building burned over an area of 40 square meters and the roof over an area of 100 square meters.

Before the arrival of the SFRS, one person evacuated from the building, who was injured in the fire, and another person died. The high-risk fire was extinguished at 1:38.

Over the past 24 hours, the SFRS received a total of 65 calls, including 33 for extinguishing fires, of which 24 were grass fires, 23 were for rescue operations, and nine calls turned out to be false.

A larger fire was also extinguished on Monday afternoon in the Augšdaugava region, in the Pilskalne parish, where dry grass burned over an area of three hectares, and a utility building burned over an area of 120 square meters.

The SFRS reminds that burning dry grass is prohibited, punishable, and dangerous.
