In the village of Pastende in Talsi Municipality, two saleswomen were injured when the "Citro mini" store building collapsed.
The rural council noted that there was only a store in the building, which is the only retail facility in this locality.
The State Fire and Rescue Service reported that the call was received on Tuesday at 13:38. At the scene, it was established that part of the one-story building, approximately 10 square meters in size, had collapsed, and the roof structure had caught fire over an area of two square meters.
As a result of the incident, two people were injured and were handed over to the emergency medical service.
Work at the scene was completed by 14:50.
The Talsi municipality stated in a press release that local officials had arrived at the scene to assess the situation and provide support and social assistance if necessary.
The brand "Citro" is managed by the company SIA "Latvian Retail Management." In 2024, the company's turnover amounted to 17.612 million euros, which is 12.7% more than in 2022, however, profit decreased by 33.5% to 38,694 euros.
