A heat pipeline burst in the Latvian city: a school and residential buildings will be left without heating in temperatures of up to -30 degrees

On Sunday, a burst in the heat pipeline was recorded in Rēzekne. An investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances in order to begin repair work, reports LLC "Rēzeknes siltumtīkli."

To eliminate the damage and ensure the safe restoration of heating supply, the supply of thermal energy will be suspended on Monday, February 2, from 8:00 AM to approximately 2:00 PM for 20 facilities.

The list of facilities being disconnected includes Rēzekne's 3rd primary school, nine addresses on Atbrīvošanas Avenue, seven addresses on Darzu Street, and three addresses on Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street.

According to representatives of "Rēzeknes siltumtīkli", considering the very low air temperature and the fact that water circulating in the heat pipelines is at a temperature of up to 105 degrees, the load on the heating networks has significantly increased. In areas where the technical condition of the heat pipelines is weaker, breaks can occur under such weather conditions, which has led to this damage.

Information about the development of the situation and the restoration of heating supply will be regularly updated on information channels, "Rēzeknes siltumtīkli" notes.

The turnover of "Rēzeknes siltumtīkli" in 2024 amounted to 8,919,723 euros, with losses of 1,291,438 euros. The company is fully owned by the municipality of the city of Rēzekne.
