The State Police have not yet put forward specific versions regarding the causes of the fire in a residential building in the village of Krustkalni, and more clarity will only emerge after the expert conclusions are received, the State Police's public relations department told the LETA agency.
Currently, the police cannot provide an estimated timeline for the completion of the investigations.
It has already been reported that on Friday morning, two children died in a fire in the village of Krustkalni in the Kekava municipality. Yesterday, TV3 reported that a woman, who is presumably the mother of the deceased children, is being treated in the hospital in serious condition. A third child, a four-year-old girl who was also affected in the tragedy, is in the Children's Hospital.
The State Police have initiated a criminal process under the section of the Criminal Law concerning crimes against property.
