Preliminary information indicates that the explosion on Bauskas Street was caused by irresponsible actions, stated the Minister of the Interior of Latvia and acting Prime Minister Rihards Kozlovskis.
As reported by the minister's advisor Elina Bivinya, on Friday evening Kozlovskis personally arrived at Bauskas Street, where an explosion occurred in an apartment building, resulting in the destruction of the top two floors in one of the entrances.
"All responsible services are working at the scene. As soon as the rescue operations are completed, the State Police will inspect the site. Currently, the State Police has begun an investigation and will establish all the details of what happened in order to hold accountable those who caused such an emergency situation," the minister stated.
