In the Riga region, one driver was detained for driving under the influence, in Vidzeme — four, and in Zemgale and Latgale — two each.

Two drivers had a blood alcohol concentration not exceeding 1.5 per mille — they face administrative penalties, while the others will face criminal charges.

Additionally, one criminal case has been initiated for operating a vehicle allegedly under the influence of narcotic substances.

Three drivers will have their vehicles confiscated, while the remaining five will have their value recovered.

In the area of road traffic, 357 administrative offense rulings were issued in the past 24 hours, including 85 for speeding and 23 for aggressive driving.

The highest number of speeding cases was recorded in Vidzeme — 31, and in Kurzeme — 26. In Zemgale, 12 drivers were fined for this, seven in the Riga region, and nine in Latgale.

It was previously reported that 103 traffic accidents were registered in the country over the past 24 hours, resulting in ten injuries.
