Three flights were canceled at the Lithuanian capital's Vilnius Airport on Tuesday due to a sudden snowfall.
The director of the Lithuanian Airports Department, Nerilė Mažeykienė, reported that two passenger planes from London, which were supposed to land at Vilnius Airport, were redirected to Kaunas, and one plane from Norway was redirected to Stockholm.
"Due to a sudden snowfall, two flights were redirected to Kaunas Airport, and one flight from Norway, from Oslo, was redirected to Stockholm," Mažeykienė commented.
According to her, the snowfall has now weakened, so the airport has resumed normal operations.
According to the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service, the sky will remain cloudy on Tuesday afternoon, with snow expected across almost the entire country. In the western regions, there will still be a chance of heavy snowfall. The wind will not die down and will be gusty, with possible snowstorms and ice in some areas.
