"I did not kill or rob these women!" - said the suspect.
Prokhor Shalyapin would like to reopen the investigation into the murder of his grandmother and aunt in 1996 — there are several inconsistencies in the investigation, and the man named in the media as the murderer of the women, Alexey Limanskiy, based on the court's verdict, killed only one. Who killed the second remains unknown.
According to "Baza," Alexey Limanskiy was detained in connection with the murder of Shalyapin's relatives 24 years later. During this time, he was imprisoned for other offenses, including theft, robbery, and another murder. In 2020, when he was arrested, he was drunk and initially even signed a confession. Later, the suspect claimed that he was allegedly told: "sign it, we will let you go, the statute of limitations has already expired, you will soon go home." And he signed. But when he sobered up, he changed his mind.
The main evidence of Limanskiy's guilt consisted of three fingerprints found in the apartment, and the motive was said to be the appropriation of a large sum of money that was kept by the women. They had sold the apartment profitably, and someone learned about this money.
As a result, he was named the murderer of Shalyapin's 30-year-old aunt — Irina Netaeva. According to the court's decision, Limanskiy first stabbed Netaeva in the neck with a knife, then shot her in the head and fled. The suspect was released due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. But who then killed the singer's 60-year-old grandmother Lyudmila Kolesnikova, found in the same apartment, remains unclear.
Limanskiy's lawyer claims that the real murderers of Prokhor Shalyapin's grandmother and aunt have remained outside suspicion and have not faced any punishment. A polygraph examination showed that the person recognized as guilty of the murder of one of the women — Alexey Limanskiy — did not commit the crime. The results of the ballistic examination also did not match: the criminal allegedly shot the victim from two meters away, while forensic experts recorded a close-range shot.
"I did not kill or rob these women! I did not know them and never met them! I only learned about their existence from the materials of the criminal case," Alexey Limanskiy himself told "Baza."
As noted by his lawyer, no one paid attention to the testimonies of neighbors: they saw Shalyapin's aunt, who, the day before her death, came to her mother's house with two tall and strong men of "non-Slavic appearance." According to the defense, it was these people who could have dealt with the family in order to steal money and valuables.
"Our entire family would like to see all those involved in this murder identified. But what can we do..." Prokhor Shalyapin told "Baza."
Alexey Limanskiy, recognized as guilty, now lives in the Volgograd region, he is 52 years old, and he works as a laborer. After the verdict, he tries to "stay out of sight," as even for a minor offense he risks being sent to a penal colony.
