Recently, several cases have been recorded where firearms were used against lost pets, reports the Degpunktā program (TV3). A similar situation occurred a few days ago in Saldus — a bullet fired by a stranger hit the cat's spine. After a complicated surgery, the animal is recovering, and there is hope that it will be able to walk again over time. However, it is still unknown who aimed a weapon at the defenseless creature.

After a usual night walk around the neighborhood, the family pet of the Jurciks — a four-year-old cat named Beyoncé — returned home dragging its hind legs. Monta's parents were the first to see the injured animal. They thought the cat had been hit by a car and immediately took it to the veterinarian. An X-ray showed that there was a bullet in its body.

The incident occurred in the vicinity of Blaumanis Street in Saldus. First, the animal was examined by a doctor at a local clinic, then the cat was taken to Kuldiga. There, the veterinarian recommended that the surgery be performed in Riga. The cat still has a chance to stand on all fours again, but it faces a long recovery ahead.

To date, the family has already invested over 1500 euros to help Beyoncé walk again.

Monta has heard of other cases where pets were shot in Saldus, but their owners did not report to the police. In this case, law enforcement is conducting an investigation, and it is crucial for witnesses with information about the possible perpetrator to come forward.
