On Saturday, November 8, after seven in the evening, police officers patrolling the Ulbrokas Street area noticed a BMW driver whose driving behavior raised suspicions that he was operating the vehicle under the influence.
To confirm this, the police activated their lights and siren; however, the driver increased speed and began to flee, making a left turn from Ulbrokas Street onto Salnas Street, bb.lv reported from the State Police.
The fugitive continued moving through the Ulbrokas Street area, exceeding the speed limit and violating other traffic rules. Additional police forces were called in.
Continuing along Ulbrokas Street, the police blocked the fugitive's path, thus stopping him. After the arrest, it was revealed that the driver was a man born in 1979, who had previously come to the attention of the police for various traffic violations.
A check showed that the driver was in a state of alcohol intoxication at 1.43 per mille, for which an administrative process was initiated. In addition, a criminal case was opened for aggressive driving and refusal to comply with repeated police demands to stop the vehicle.
