"Alpha Baltic Media" will appeal to the Competition Council against the Latvian Advertising Association for unfair competition.
Responding to information presented on October 26 in the Latvian Television program "De Facto" and statements from the Latvian Advertising Association (LRA), SIA "Alpha Baltic Media" claims that the allegations made are false, misleading, and essentially represent a targeted black PR campaign conducted by the company's competitors using the association's platform, writes the business portal Dienas Bizness.
According to the portal, "Alpha Baltic Media" denies any connection to illegal activities, and no government agency has identified significant violations in its operations. The company diligently fulfills its contractual obligations to clients and has signed approximately 50 contracts under public procurement over the past two years. Of the contracts signed this year, only one has been terminated, and two last year.
"Such situations arise from time to time in any industry — if there is no synergy between the client and the agency, terminating the contract is a normal practice of cooperation. We always prioritize the client's interests and work responsibly, transparently, and professionally," notes Lauris Spillers, a board member of "Alpha Baltic Media."
"It is inappropriate to refer to events that occurred more than six or seven years ago, the circumstances of which are no longer known today. The company has changed, developed, and currently operates in full compliance with legal requirements. Taxes are paid diligently — otherwise, we would not be able to successfully conclude and execute about 50 public contracts," he adds.
The company's legal representative, Zane Norenberga, states: "From our perspective, such actions by the association and its members are essentially directed against fair competition. They are attempting to unfairly push competitors who are not part of the association out of the market. Such actions are unacceptable and contradict the principles of the Competition Law."
"Alpha Baltic Media" has decided to file a statement with the Competition Council requesting an assessment of the actions of the LRA and its members, which, in the company's opinion, create unjustified market restrictions and distort competition in the advertising and communication services sector.
