The fire on the balcony of an apartment building on Tinuzu Street in Riga in the morning forced residents to hastily leave their apartments. The fire was extinguished, but damage was incurred not only by the owners of the burned balcony but also by neighbors.

Early in the morning, a fire broke out on the balcony of a third-floor apartment in a multi-story building on Tinuzu Street in Riga. Due to heavy smoke, rescuers had to evacuate the residents.

The fire occurred around six o'clock in the morning. The flames engulfed household items located on the balcony, which was approximately ten square meters in size. After the fire, only a completely burned structure remained in its place.

To ensure safety, rescuers evacuated 17 people from the building. Another four residents were brought outside using rescue masks.

One resident told the Degpunktā program (TV3) that he woke up to noise and discovered smoke in the stairwell. According to him, people hurriedly left their apartments, taking children and pets with them. "We panicked, grabbed the cats, and ran around outside," the man said. He also noted that such incidents had not occurred in the building before.

The fire affected not only the apartment where it started. The flames destroyed the floor of the balcony above, and the water used to extinguish the fire damaged the apartments located below.

A resident of one of the affected apartments reported that no one was home at the time of the incident. Upon returning, the family found the consequences of flooding. According to her, the balcony was severely damaged.

Such fires are particularly dangerous for residents of apartment buildings, as fire and smoke spread quickly along the facade and ventilation ducts, often causing damage to multiple apartments at once.

The State Police is currently conducting an internal investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
