District-wide blackout: part of Vilnius suddenly lost power

More than 20,000 homes in Vilnius suddenly lost power on Monday morning, reports LRT.

On the morning of October 27, several areas of Vilnius suddenly lost power, leaving around 21,000 residents of the Lithuanian capital without electricity.

In particular, problems arose in the neighborhoods of Šeškinė, Pašilaičiai, and Bajorai. All of them are located in the northwestern part of the city.

"We recorded the loss of power around 10:40 and quickly dispatched repair teams," said the spokesperson for the electricity distribution operator ESO.

Due to the power outage, traffic lights at 10 intersections also went out.

As of 12:00, power was restored to most homes, but around 8,000 consumers remained without supply. Traffic lights resumed operation at 13:30.

The cause is preliminarily considered to be a failure on the line.
