The court will continue the consideration of the criminal case regarding the leadership of a gang from prison

Today at 13:00, the Riga City Court will continue the consideration of the criminal case in which an individual, while in a place of deprivation of liberty and serving a sentence, created and led an organized armed group or gang with the aim of committing serious and particularly serious crimes, including against the life and health of individuals, as evidenced by information in the court calendar.

Eight people are accused in the criminal proceedings overall. The gang had at least one firearm as well as brass knuckles.

According to publicly available information, the accused in the case are Raivis Jansons, Roberts Davidovs-Stashs, Oleg Tarasenko, Eriks Klamanis, Evita Dishlere, as well as Danil Sobolev, Vladimir Efremkov, and Linda Aizane.

The prosecution informed the LETA agency that the gang members committed several criminal acts, including attacking a man with the intent to cause him serious bodily harm. Although they failed to carry out their plan and inflict the desired harm to health, as the attackers were scared off during the commission of the crime, the victim sustained injuries as a result of the attack.

The gang members also attempted to destabilize the situation in the prison by deliberately setting fire to a car near the detention facility.

The gang leader is also accused of making death threats against two individuals. Given the identity of the accused, the threats were taken seriously, and there were grounds to fear that these threats could be carried out.

The last time charges of banditry were brought against individuals for a crime committed in 2009.
