Today at 10:00, the Riga City Court will continue to hear the criminal case in which Vladimir Slivkin is accused of repeatedly setting fire to someone else's property, including with serious consequences.
According to the indictment, on the night of April 18, 2024, in Riga, in the Latgale suburb, a man set fire to two cars on the street, as well as a child seat in the interior of a third car; two cars were completely destroyed.
On the night of July 7, he set fire to a wood shed on Janis Asars Street in Riga. As a result of the fire, not only the shed burned down, but the flames spread to neighboring apartment buildings and cars. Four apartments were completely burned down, and property belonging to at least 46 individuals and legal entities was damaged.
In a short time, the State Police identified the man and arrested him the next day. The judge of the Riga City Court applied a measure of detention in custody against him. During the pre-trial proceedings, the man did not admit his guilt and testified that on the night the cars were set on fire, he was at home. He also testified that he might have approached the shed to relieve himself, but did not set anything on fire.
The man has been previously convicted multiple times for crimes related to illegal actions with narcotic and psychotropic substances, as well as for various property crimes.
