Fuel prices in Latvia have begun to decrease, especially noticeable for diesel.
According to the European Commission, during the week of April 20 to 26, diesel prices decreased by 6.7% — averaging €1.921 per liter (compared to €2.06 the previous week). The price of 95-octane gasoline fell slightly — by 0.4%, to €1.784 per liter.
However, compared to the beginning of the year, fuel is still significantly more expensive: gasoline has risen in price by 18.4%, and diesel by almost 29%.
Since the beginning of April, a temporary reduction in the excise tax on diesel has been in effect — until the end of June. This is one of the measures intended to curb price increases and partially reduce the burden on drivers and businesses.
