Russian Senator Dmitry Rogozin proposes to mine Russian tankers to blow them up in case of seizure by Western countries.

This proposal was made after today's seizure of the oil tanker belonging to Russia's 'shadow fleet' by British military forces.

"A couple of times it will blow up under their noses with an oil spill and the corresponding environmental consequences, and they will immediately reconsider," said Rogozin.

As reported by bb.lv, the United Kingdom intercepted the vessel SMYRTOS, owned by the Russian 'shadow fleet', in the English Channel, marking London's first such operation against Russian tankers subject to sanctions.

On Sunday morning, Royal Marines and specially trained officers from the National Crime Agency boarded the tanker SMYRTOS in the English Channel.

The military operation, which lasted 6 hours, was supported by aircraft from the Maritime Aviation Group (Chinooks, Merlin Mk4, and Wildcat), the RAF P-8 aircraft, as well as the ships HMS SUTHERLAND and HMS LEDBURY.

The Russian 'shadow fleet' tanker will be temporarily relocated to an anchorage off the southern coast of England.
