Latvian Entrepreneurs Suddenly Feel More Positive. Economists Explain

This year, the opinion of entrepreneurs in the Baltic states about the business environment for the next 12 months has significantly improved, according to a survey of financial directors of large companies conducted by the bank.

49% of financial directors in Latvia, 44% in Estonia, and 58% in Lithuania have a positive assessment of the business environment. In all three countries, these are the highest figures since 2022.

"The survey results show that confidence in growth opportunities is returning to the Baltic companies. Entrepreneurs believe that now is the right time to take additional risks and are ready to take steps to expand their businesses. The number of those willing to invest not only in their own country but also abroad has significantly increased. Given the global instability and constantly changing situation, the confidence of Baltic companies indicates our ability to adapt to changes and leverage them to our advantage by timely investing in innovation and development," experts comment on the data.

The growth opportunities for companies also reflect the processes in the economy. Financial directors of Lithuanian companies are the most optimistic about the development prospects for the next 12 months: 58% of respondents consider the conditions for business growth to be good or very good. In Latvia, 49% share this view, while in Estonia, it is 44%. Regarding the assessment of their own companies' financial situation, nearly 80% of leaders in Lithuania and Latvia rate it as good or very good, while in Estonia, the figure is 64%.

This perception largely reflects the economic situation in the region. Lithuania's economy is growing the fastest: the projected GDP growth this year is 2.7%, and for next year, it is 3.1%. In Latvia, GDP growth is expected to be within 1–2% in 2025, while in Estonia, it is slightly over 1%, but next year, the growth rates may approach those of Lithuania.
