A total of 2.947 million tons of cargo were transshipped at the Ventspils port terminals in the first five months of this year, which is 26.3% less than in the corresponding period last year, according to information from the Ministry of Transport.

In the first five months of this year, 1.836 million tons of cargo were sent from the Ventspils port, which is 21.2% less than in the corresponding period last year, while the volume of received cargo decreased by 33.4% to 1.112 million tons.

In the first five months of this year, 1.684 million tons of liquid cargo were transshipped at the Ventspils port terminals, which is 26.6% less than in the corresponding period last year, 907,800 tons of general cargo, which is 16% more, and 355,700 tons of bulk cargo, which is 2.6 times less.

In the first five months, 1.612 million tons of oil products were transshipped, which is 23.9% less than in the corresponding period of 2025, ro-ro cargo, or "roll on/roll off," amounted to 733,900 tons, which is 9.2% more, and timber amounted to 151,000 tons, which is 37.1% more.

It has already been reported that in 2025, 8.533 million tons of cargo were transshipped at the Ventspils port terminals, which is 3.6% more than in 2024.

By cargo transshipment volume, the Ventspils port was the second largest port in Latvia last year.
